SKIPPER SET FOR SURGERY BUT JJ FIT

28 March 2013

Knee operation for Langmead

Skipper Kelvin Langmead is set for surgery on the knee injury he suffered in the game against Oxford on Saturday.

“Kelvin has gone in for an operation on his knee today (Thursday),” confirmed Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd.

“He is going to be out for more than a couple of weeks but we do expect to have him back before the end of the season.

“It is a disappointment to lose Kelvin because he’s our captain and he has arguably been our best player this season.

“With Nathan Cameron coming in and with the quality we’ve already got we have still got good competition for places.

“I thought long and hard about re-calling David Artell but I think the best place for him is at Wrexham playing games and then I’ll assess that situation again at the end of the season.

“John Johnson trained on Wednesday and he’s fit. We thought he might have a problem with his hamstring but he doesn't so it wasn’t as bad as we first thought.

“I’ve already spoken to Nana about his future and we won’t be offering him anything for next season.

“Nana has worked really hard to get himself fit but we are a different club now to the one that he joined. He has always got a smile on his face and if we can hopefully we will be able to help him find a new club.”
