The views of the Cobblers boss

Boss Aidy Boothroyd was delighted following the 1-0 win against Torquay, the Cobblers tenth consecutive victory on home soil.

“It’s a great result for us,” he said.

“I thought the game was a brilliant advert for our division and it could have gone either way.

“I’m delighted we managed to get the three points in the end and I thought our performance was fantastic.

“We were really strong throughout and we put Torquay on the back foot.

“There wasn’t a below par performance out there tonight, we had that belief and that quality that you can’t always put your finger on to get us the win.

“To be fair to Torquay they came back at us after we scored and it just goes to show how tight the division is and how fine the margins are.

“It was a great header from Roy, he buzzes around, puts defenders under pressure and that creates chances.

“He’s honest, his work rate is outstanding and he’s a good finisher.”
