AIDY PRAISES FIRST HALF DISPLAY

9 March 2013

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd on the 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley at Sixfields.

“I thought we deserved the win today,” he said.

“In the first half we played some terrific stuff and Clive Platt and Roy O’Donovan were unplayable.

“Accrington came at us in the second half and we expected that because they had nothing to lose.

“It’s another good result and clean sheet at home but we still need to get better.

“It was a terrific free-kick from Chris Hackett, he hasn’t trained for nearly two weeks and I thought he looked a little bit ring rusty today but he has still got that quality.

“Roy did well for his goal, he’s got that athleticism and pace that gives us that variety in attack.

“I thought Ishmel played really well today and he’s just got that little X Factor that on another day can win you a game.

“Ishmel can do things that nobody else can do but he can frustrate you at times as well, his crossing was excellent today but he’ll be disappointed with his shooting.

“Bayo was due to start but he felt his hip a little bit on Friday so I made the decision to start with him on the bench.

“We’ve got a good strong bench now and I can change a game tactically because of the quality we have got on there.”
