AIDY PRAISE FOR VOLUNTEERS

23 March 2013

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd paid tribute to the efforts of the supporters who helped clear the pitch of snow as he looked back on the 1-0 win against Oxford.

“The result in itself was terrific and our first half performance was excellent,” he said.

“We nearly gave Oxford a point at the end and the weather definitely played it’s part but I’m delighted with the result.

“Lee Nicholls was in great form, Oxford through everything at us in the second half and we had to defend resolutely.

“It’s an excellent record we’ve got at home and once again I need to thank the groundstaff and the people who volunteered to clear the pitch of snow.

“We’ve had a horrendous winter and to be able to get the games on that we have this season has been a tremendous effort.

“Kelvin Langmead felt something in his knee and after speaking to the physio I just didn’t want to take any risks and we had a more than able replacement in Lee Collins.

“It’s too early to say whether or not he will be okay for Torquay on Friday but I’m certainly hoping so.

“We’ve got a very tough programme coming up at Easter, it’s the loan deadline on Thursday and I might need to have one or two meetings with the Chairman this week just to see if we can add to the squad for the run in.

“We’ve got to assess where we are on Monday and then make sure that we have got that depth in the squad to get us over the line.”
