AIDY EXPECTING TOUGH AWAY TRIP

Cobblers boss previews Saturday's game at Wycombe

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd has plenty of respect for Saturday's opponents Wycombe Wanderers.

“I know that we are in for a very tough game and there is pride at stake because they will want to get revenge on us for beating them here earlier in the season,” he said.

“We are on a decent run but complacency can creep in. It’s sometimes human nature for people to take their foot off the pedal and we’ve got to make sure that we start properly and maintain the standards that we’ve set.

“Getting there is difficult but staying there is going to be the hardest thing.

“I know from the game here that Wycombe will fight for everything, they have got some talented players and Gareth Ainsworth will want to win.

“We will need to be as organised and up for it as we were against Morecambe if we want to get anything from the game.

“It was a decent point at Morecambe and on reflection looking at the stats we were very dominant for the last 30 minutes. It was a very difficult game and both sides had chances but I thought in the end we could have nicked all three points.

“To score late on shows a lot of things - spirit, fitness, organisation and the ability to change the way you are playing. We did that when Clive and Bayo came on, Roy had worn them all out and those two finished the job off.

“It is a 90 minute game and what we want to do is stay in the game for as long as possible because we know if we can do that then we’ve got a good chance of winning it.

“We had to chase it at 1-0 down but I always felt comfortable that we were going to score.

“We’ve got quite a lot of things right at home in terms of results but we can get much better in the way that we are playing.

“The away form did need addressing and I think we have sort of found a way to do that now, we’ve got a good talent base in our squad and we can play in a variety of ways.

“I think we’ve kicked into gear now and I can adapt things if I need to either before a game or during a game.”
