Midfielder to join for new season

Northampton Town have agreed to sign former Torquay United midfielder Ian Morris on a 2 year contract.

The 26 year old left footed Morris can operate in the centre of midfield, wide on the left or just behind the strikers.

Morris made his professional debut for Blackpool and has also appeared for Scunthorpe United, Carlisle United (loan), Chesterfield (loan) and Torquay United. He was out of contract at Plainmoor.

"Ian is a very good player and I have followed his career closely," said boss Aidy Boothroyd.

"He has always impressed me when I have seen him and I am pleased we have been able to bring him to the club.

"He can play in a number of positions and he has the experience of having played more than 200 games despite only being in his mid 20s.

"He is a winner, he has already won 3 promotions in his career and he has experience of playing in the Championship, League 1 and League 2.

"He is another player who will be a good addition to the squad and I am delighted we have got him."
