AIDY - 'WE'LL MOVE FORWARD'

Cobblers boss planning for next season

Aidy Boothroyd has said he is perfectly calm about his summer recruitment, and isn't losing any sleep over which players he will or won't sign.

“I’m quite relaxed about it really because I do think that we have got something good going here," he said.

“I wrote down before the play-offs a list of the players that I wanted to keep at the end of the season and which ones I wanted to let go and that list didn’t change after the play-offs.

“I was honest and straight with all the players we let go and I went through my reasoning with every one of them.

“Bayo is such a wonderful guy and it was purely a football decision. I just think in order for us to go forward he wouldn’t be contributing as much as he has done to the club in the past.

“He has been a great player for the club but if we are going to get better then we need to move on.

“Lee Collins has been excellent for us and I think he is a player that can do what John Johnson has done but also improve on that.

“Jonno has been unfortunate with injuries and he has been a part of the club’s turn around but I get paid to make difficult decisions and I certainly wouldn’t want to shy away from any of them.

“What we were going to do originally with Louis Moult was to sign him and loan him out again but I think there comes a time with a player where you have got to make a decision.

“Louis has threatened to do really well for a long time and he needs to go somewhere he can play regularly and score goals.

“I wish all the lads that we’ve released well and thank them for what they’ve done but it’s time for the start of a new chapter and we need to improve and get better.”
