Northampton Town’s pre-season campaign continued at Cogenhoe United.
On a warm evening at Compton Park, the first real chance of the game came on 11 minutes when JJ Hooper saw a shot parried onto the post after some neat build up play involving Joe Widdowson and Ian Morris.
Morris then headed just over after a good cross from Gary Deegan.
The Cogenhoe goalkeeper saved a volley from Hooper before then making another good save to deny Ishmel Demontagnac.
Gary Deegan opened the scoring on 39 minutes, smashing the ball into the roof of the net from 25-yards after Cogenhoe failed to clear from a corner.
Lateef Elford-Alliyu made it 2-0 soon after, scoring from close range after a 25 yard shot from Morris came back off the post.
It was then 3-0 on 44 minutes, Lateef toe-poking the ball home after being played in by Carter.
Dave Artell had a header tipped over at the start of the second half before former Cobblers striker Courtney Herbert came on for Cogenhoe.
Darren Purse made it 4-0 with a close range header on 56 minutes after Artell’s initial header rebounded off the crossbar.
Lateef completed his hat-trick on 75 minutes with a neatly dinked effort having been played in by Morris.
On 88 minutes Lateef then tapped in his 4th goal of the night after a cross from Ivan Toney to make it 6-0.
