Leicester City were the visitors to Sixfields for the Cobblers final pre-season friendly ahead of their Sky Bet League 2 campaign.

Trialists Michael Spillane and Danny Emerton both started the game with a number of other trialists named among the substitutes.

Matt Duke blocked an early shot from Chris Wood while for the Cobblers Gary Deegan volleyed wide.

Lee Collins then put Town in front on 13 minutes, the centre half lashing the ball in at the far post with Danny Emerton and Ian Morris having also played a big part in the build-up.

Chris Wood equalised for the Foxes 7 minutes later, the New Zealander with a cracking finish from 15 yards to find the roof of the net.

A rare shot on goal from Joe Widdowson was blocked with the Cobblers appeals for handball against Zak Whitbread waved away by the referee. Kasper Schmeichel then pulled off a couple of great saves in a goalmouth scramble that followed a long throw from Ben Tozer. Earlier, in the same melee, Michael Spillane had seen a header hit the crossbar.

Aidy Boothroyd made a host of changes for the second half with five more trialists handed a chance to impress.

Ben Tozer flashed a shot wide before half-time substitute Dean Snedker did well to deny Lloyd Dyer.

Spillane saw a shot saved as the changes continued for both sides. A header from Ritchie de Laet flicked the crossbar while at the other end Conrad Logan pulled off a fine save to deny Ishmel Demontagnac.

A superb save from Snedker to thwart Anthony Knockaert ensured the score remained at 1-1.

The Cobblers won the game in the final minute, Foxes defender Sean St Ledger turning a low cross beyond Conrad Logan to ensure Town ended pre-season on a high.
