Cobblers boss on Tuesday's pre-season game

Aidy Boothroyd was pleased with the Cobblers latest pre-season work out, the 6-0 win at Cogenhoe United on Tuesday evening.

"I like to play our local teams to help them get some revenue in and I thought there was a good crowd there on Tuesday night," he said.

"It was a good test for us but I thought our fitness levels and quality told in the end.

"It was another excellent work out for us and with the pitches being as hard as they are at the moment I've not been able to push the players in training as hard as I would like.

"I was really pleased with all the trialists but I can't keep them hanging around for ever so I will make some decisions on them in the next few days.

"I've got a bit of thinking to do and I've got to balance it all out in terms of where we are.

"You can see already that the dynamic in the group is different this season, there is a lot more energy and a lot more running power and a lot more football being played."
