Cobblers boss ready for tough friendly work out

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd is looking forward to taking the pre-season campaign up a level when Peterborough United come to Sixfields on Saturday (3pm kick off.)

"This is the next test for us," he said, after seeing his side beat Sileby Rangers and Cogenhoe United in the last few days.

"Peterborough were in the Championship last season and although we think of them as our rivals I think they are a club that we could model ourselves on in many different ways.

"They are a good side and they will try and pass around us.

"We'll get tested a lot more without the ball and with the ball so it will be difficult but these are the sort of games you want.

"Kelvin Langmead will go in for a minor operation in the next couple of days to look deeper into his knee because it's not quite right yet.

"That's why I've kept Darren Purse here for a longer period of time because I want to see exactly where we are at with Kelvin.

"Kelvin is a doubt for the start of the season and it's important that we get him one hundred per cent right."
