Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd is mulling over his midfield options ahead of Saturday’s Sixfields clash against Fleetwood Town.

“Luke Guttridge got through half an hour against Dagenham and he comes in to contention,” he said.

“Lewis Hornby has been absolutely fantastic for a guy of his age and I’m in a nice position now where I’ve got a senior pro coming back.

“I’ve got three players vying for two positions or I could decide to play all three depending on how I want to set the team up against Fleetwood.

“The situation with Paul Turnbull hasn’t changed, I’ve got a lot of time for Paul as a person but unfortunately he’s got a lot of players in front of him.

“All footballers want to play and we want to help Paul as much as we can. There will be a lot of players out of contract again in the summer and I hope we can help Paul by giving him a head start to get himself sorted for the rest of this season and beyond that. Until then though he remains here as part of the squad.

“Things change day-to-day and game-to-game in January, I’ve got a fair idea of what we need to do but I am always very cautious not to show my hand because a suspension or an injury and your priority might change.”
