All the team news ahead of Chesterfield trip

Defender Dave Artell has returned to training this week following a three-month injury lay-off.

“David is back in training and he will hopefully be fit for selection in seven to ten days time,” confirmed boss Aidy Boothroyd.

“We are taking a little bit more time with John Johnson because we don’t want him to come back too early like he did last time.

“Everybody else is fine, the players got an extra day off at the start of the week but now we are back at it and working very hard ahead of what is going to be a very difficult game at Chesterfield.

“In terms of team selection I’m going to have some difficult decisions to make but that’s my job and it is nice to have that competitive edge.

“The players work very hard and we try and replicate a competitive match situation in our training. That raises everybody’s level and the players know that if things do need to be changed around then they can be.

“You’ve got to balance that competitiveness with creating a good team spirit and the players who come off the bench have got to be as effective as the players that start.

“Lewis Hornby is a prime example of that and I thought he did very well when he came on for Luke Guttridge on Saturday.

“It’s good to have that quality coming off the bench.”
