AIDY UPBEAT AFTER GILLS REVERSE

29 January 2013

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd was upbeat after the 2-0 defeat at Gillingham.

"I thought we were the better side for long periods and the scoreline was probably not a fair reflection on the game," he said.

"We had the better chances, especially in the first half but unfortunately we didn't adapt to the conditions as well as we did at Aldershot.

"It was a very blustery, swirling wind and hence that led to a mistake from Lee Nicholls.

"Lee has been absolutely outstanding for us this season and I'm sure he will continue to be so. He responded very well and I think along with Matt Duke he is probably the best goalkeeper in this division.

"Gillingham are top of the league for a reason but we are not too far away.

"We came here to try and win the game and in the end we have lost because of two errors.

"It wasn't to be tonight but I know this team and we will bounce back.

"Rotherham will be difficult but I think if we perform like we did tonight and cut out the little errors we will have every chance."
