Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd is looking to add to his squad ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
“Given where we are in the table I think it’s about strengthening with a number of new faces,” he said.
“The Chairman and everyone at the club is on board with that and that’s the plan we have.
“If the right players become available we will bring them in, we’ve got a small squad as it is and I think it’s important that on the run in you’ve got enough depth in your squad to cope with any loss of form, injuries or suspensions.
“Dave Artell was on the bench at Aldershot but he’s obviously not quite match fit yet.
“By the end of this week hopefully he should be ready to start games and John Johnson is also back in training this week.
“Both players will come into contention for Saturday, the team is quite settled at the moment but there has always got to be that threat of competition.”
