AIDY HAPPY TO TAKE 'SCRUFFY' WIN

1 January 2013

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd reflected on the New Years Day win against Dagenham & Redbridge.

"The scoreline probably flattered us a little bit but we'll definitely take it," he said.

"We rode our luck at times but in any season you are not going to play well in every game.

"It was scruffy at best today but you have to give credit to the opposition, Dagenham came here with a game plan and they made it hard for us.

"The second goal from Chris Hackett was a very good goal but unfortunately we couldn't get him into the game for long enough periods.

"We never really threatened their goal in the second half and Dagenham put us under pressure.

"We've got that consistency at home and we just need to make sure that we maintain that and get that away from home as well.

"We've put ourselves in a good position and we've got some important games coming up now against teams who are in and around us in the league table.

"Luke Guttridge has worked very hard to get back and the plan was to give him half an hour at Gillingham.

"I've been really pleased with Lewis Hornby and and we've offered him a professional contract in the last few days. He's a first team player now and he has earned that right.

"Emyr Huws had a dead leg, but he should be okay for Saturday, he's a big part of our team and our squad and I didn't want to risk him today."
