Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd reflected on the defeat at Chesterfield.

"I am thoroughly disappointed, we took a hiding," he said.

"I did sense this sort of thing could happen and I have been warning lately that despite our recent good results that we haven't achieved anything. When you are a developing side, as we are, your reputation develops before it should and you can't start like we did against aside who were up for it like Chesterfield were today.

"This sort of result is part of the development and we have to take it on the chin and accept the flak that will come our way from an excellent travelling support.

"You have to give the opposition credit but we were complacent and we got a real good hiding for the first 30 minutes.

"We're a lot better than that and what we have to do now is bounce back very quickly.

"We actually conceded two of the three goals from counter attacks and that is something we have talked about.

"We were sloppy and we gave Chesterfield the momentum and the opportunities.

"It's a missed opportunity and we've got to learn the lessons from today.

"The first 30 minutes was unacceptable in so many ways and we were mentally lazy.

"The second half was a lot better, we looked a lot stronger and we created some good chances.

"We're all disappointed but it's not the end of the world, you don't become a bad team overnight just like you don't become a good team overnight."
