AIDY FELT VICTORY WAS DESERVED

16 February 2013

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd on the 2-1 win at Southend, a result that sees his side move back up into the npower League 2 play-off places.

"I thought overall we deserved it," he said.

"We didn't start very well at all but then we got into the game a bit more and scored.

"It was a great finish from Roy O'Donovan, what Roy needs is confidence and he is getting better with every training session.

"We wanted to play on the break a bit more and for a period we did do well and kept the ball.

"I knew Southend would come back at us in the second half but at the end of it we won the game and we are still in the pack.

"Kelvin Langmead is brave as a lion, that's why he's our captain and since I've been here he has been absolutely outstanding.

"Clarke Carlisle wanted to play but he has had flu so it was best for him not to travel. At times we did look a bit disjointed but Lee Collins was steady and it was good to have John Johnson back in the team as well.

"We've got some big games coming up and Clarke will come back into contention for Wimbledon on Tuesday."
