KING PRAISES EFFORT AND SPIRIT

26 December 2013

The views of the Cobblers caretaker boss

Cobblers caretaker manager Andy King praised the spirit of his team after the narrow Boxing Day defeat at Burton.

"I always felt that the team who scored the first goal would go on to win the game," he said.

"I'm a football man and I wanted the players to show a reflection of me and I really couldn't have asked any more of them.

"There was a spirit there, the players ran themselves into the ground and that's all I can ask of them.

"I wanted them to give us a platform and give us something to build on going into the Portsmouth game.

"There were pluses and in football terms there was something there today.

"For twenty minutes in the second half we looked a threat but in the next game we need to be a threat for longer."
