David Cardoza with a Christmas message to supporters
Chairman David Cardoza is hoping 2014 will bring happier times on the field to go with the impending Sixfields redevelopment.
Mr Cardoza looked back at a rollercoaster 2013 in a Cobblers Player interview, reflecting on the visit to Wembley in May as well as the difficult start to this season.
“To get to Wembley last season was a terrific achievement but we end the year in a terrible position," he said.
“We are doing everything we can to turn it around, Aidy is working as hard as he can and if we can pick up some results in the next few games hopefully we can then start the New Year in a more buoyant and positive manner."
The Chairman said that there will be changes to the squad in January, and is expecting a hectic month.
“I’m expecting quite a busy January with hopefully players coming in and going out," he said.
“We certainly need to trim the squad and we need to bring in some quality to the squad as well.
“Off the field things are moving on and I’m very busy with project managers getting everything ready to start the building work in January and February.
“It’s an exciting time to finally get those corporate boxes and better facilities that we need to generate the money we need not only to pay our bills but to also move the club forward.
“To actually be able to see the work happening is going to be very exciting but we need to get our league position sorted out as well and fast.
“That to me in the short-term is far more important than the building work and it’s something we have to solve.
“The signs are there that we are improving, we’ve drawn quite a few and we need to turn those draws into wins.
“In my eyes We are a little way away from getting there but a few good results over Christmas and things will hopefully look a lot brighter.
“My hopes for the year ahead are that we get the building work done on time and most importantly that we get ourselves out of this position in the league.
“The signs are there that we are picking up and if that’s the case lets build a platform in the next few games and then really move on in the New Year.”
