AIDY EXPECTING TOUGH AFTERNOON

Cobblers boss wary of Grimsby threat

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd is aware of how tough Saturday’s FA Cup second round tie at Grimsby Town will be.

“It will be a very difficult tie for us but it’s one that we think we can get through,” he said on Cobblers Player.

“Grimsby are going really well in the Conference but we will go up there, prepare properly and see if we can come away with our name in the hat for the next round.

“If we can get through it just builds the excitement, the Chairman loves the FA Cup and it’s a while since we’ve had a run in it.

“It’s been a while since I’ve had a run in the FA Cup as well and if you can have a run in the cup it can bring a real feel good factor and it could add to the momentum that we are building at the club again over the last couple of weeks.

“I’m certainly not going to make any bold predictions, I think we are over the majority of the trauma but football can soon come back and bite you if you lose your focus.

“We just need to take one step at a time and focus on the next game.

“We know how difficult Saturday is going to be, we will give Grimsby all due respect and we will make sure that we come up with a plan to give them a few problems as well.

“We are looking a lot stronger and we look a lot more resilient now, the team has started to work as a whole and we are working a lot harder without the ball."
