Northampton Town's youth team took on Portsmouth at Moulton College on Saturday in the Football League Youth Alliance.
The Cobblers lost the game 2-0 with Trevor Gould, Head of the club's Academy, conceding that they were beaten by the better side on the day.
"Portsmouth are a decent side," he said.
"We battled hard but our performance level wasn't as high as last week.
"We are a very young side at the moment though and there are lots of things that we need to work on and improve."
