HARRIOTT SIGNS FOR TOWN

30 August 2013

Midfielder makes Sixfields move

Northampton Town have signed the former Sheffield United midfielder Matty Harriott on a contract to the end of the season.

The combative 20 year old started his career with home town club Luton Town before moving to Sheffield United where he made four first team appearances.

He had loan spells at Burton and Alfreton while with the Blades.

"Matty will increase the competition in central midfield," said boss Aidy Boothroyd.

"He is strong, he can be physical and he has a good engine. He can play as well and he is really hungry and desperate to be given a chance.

"He did well for us in pre-season and I think he will be a good addition."

Harriott has been allocated squad number 26 and is available for the game at Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
