CARTER SUSPENDED FOR MK TIE

5 August 2013

All the news as Milton Keynes Dons come to Sixfields

Midfielder Darren Carter will miss Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup first round tie against MK Dons through suspension after being sent off at York City on Saturday.

Carter will serve a one-match ban and will be available for Saturday’s Sky Bet League 2 clash against Newport.

“You can’t appeal two yellow cards so Darren is suspended,” said boss Aidy Boothroyd.

“We will have to rejig things a little bit but it’s an opportunity for someone to come in either in midfield or up front and stake a claim.

“Lewis Hornby has got a toe injury which has led to an ankle injury which has led to a back injury all down his right hand side.

“He had a similar thing in pre-season last year and I think it’s comes from him wearing flip flops throughout the summer and not having any proper footwear on.

“It’s not too serious thankfully but it’s something that does need a little bit of manipulation and a bit of time.

“I’m hoping Clive Platt and Chris Hackett will both come back into full training on Thursday. They are both running at the moment and they have both been working really hard with the physio.

“Dave Artell’s name has been circulated and if something happens there it might give us a bit more money to work with.

“We are not in a one in one out situation thankfully but whilst I might be looking for a certain player this week that might change depending on what’s available next week.

“Yes it would be possible for us to go out and sign an experienced striker or bring in a young kid on loan but I don’t want to take a kid on loan until I’ve had a look at what we’ve already got."
