AIDY ON MK DONS CLASH

6 August 2013

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd previews Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup first round tie against MK Dons at Sixfields.

“It will be a good game, hopefully it will be a decent crowd and we want to get through to the next round,” he said.

“MK Dons are a good team, they are in the league above us and I’m sure they will want to make up for last year when we beat them in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

“It’s a competition that we are taking very seriously, we are missing four of our best players through injury but we knew that was going to be the case at the start of pre-season.

“If we can have a cup run that means, with Financial Fair Play now in, more money for me and for the budget so we are going to be working hard to try and do that.

“We’ve brought a couple of young players in, Danny Emerton was one of the bright spots for us on Saturday and you never know how good people are until you give them a chance.

“At some point or other you have got to give people a chance otherwise what’s the point of having them here.

“The players we’ve got here need to have a chance and we are not going to find out about them by not playing them.

“We’ve grown things here over a period of time and we want to grow them further but that does take a bit of time.”
