BEDFORD WIN FIRST COUNTY ENGRAVERS CUP

24 September 2012

Successful pre-match event held

Whilst the Cobblers were drawing with Chesterfield on Saturday, there were goals aplenty on the 5-a-side 3G astroturf pitches at Goals Soccer Centres for this year's first County Engravers Cup.

Bedford FC, who went on to win the under-14 event in a close fought final over last year's winners Banbury Irish, scored 15 goals in the group stage alone, whilst Falcons Blue who won the second group scored 9 of their own.

In an event which encouraged over a hundred people to come and cheer on Northampton Town, it was Rockingham Forest Youth who returned after a season away to secure the spoils in the Plate. Teams went on to be presented their trophies on the pitch at half-time by substitute goalkeeper Dean Snedker.

Meanwhile at Sixfields, 322 people attended the game through Group Tickets, with Newton Longville under-8s, Soccer Stars under-10s, and Brixworth Juniors under-11s making it through to January's Quarter Finals. Teams from Byfield, Bilton Ajax and defending champions Brackley Town were presented with medals for their efforts in the competition.

The club will be running County Engravers Cups for all age groups including adults this year; dates are listed here. Experiences such as the County engravers and Stanair Cups are free when a group attends a game together, and tickets are discounted too.
