AIDY DELIGHT AT PERFORMANCE

4 September 2012

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd was delighted with the 1-0 victory over MK Dons.

“We deserved to win the game and I thought we played really well,” he said.

“We created lots of chances, we had to defend well at times but so did they.

“Every player to a man was outstanding tonight and it was a wonderful strike from Jake Robinson.

“He really put his foot through it and he deserved his goal for the effort he put in for the team.

“We had a game plan, we wanted to disrupt them and stop them from playing and I thought we did that very well.

“There were periods of the game where we kept the ball very well, we’ve got some good players and we just need to find that consistency.

“We’ve had a steady start to the season and we haven’t made many changes to the team but what tonight does is say to the players that are in the team that they aren’t going to get an easy ride.

“We can accept players making mistakes but if they keep making those same mistakes then we will make changes.

“We’ve got a few little niggles and I would have rested a few more players tonight if I could have done but everyone should be fit for Saturday and John Johnson has also got a good chance of playing.

“I’ll go away and have a think about what I’m going to do with the team on Saturday, I had a team in mind before tonight but there were some very good performances out there tonight that might have helped sway my mind a little bit.”
