Football League Youth Alliance Cup action

Northampton Town's youth team were in action on Saturday as they took on Watford at Moulton College in the Football League Youth Alliance.

The Cobblers were beaten 4-2 but there was plenty for new Youth Team Coach Craig Hinton to take from the game.

"There were lots of positives and we did well against a good established academy side," he said.

"We got punished for the mistakes we made defensively but for long periods in the game I thought we were the better side.

"Overall I was pleased with how we played and now we move onto the next game."

The Cobblers goals came from Ivan Toney and from an own goal.

* In the draw for the first round of this season's FA Youth Cup, Northampton Town have been drawn away to Chesterfield with a date for the tie to be confirmed.
