AIDY CONSIDERING SELECTION OPTIONS

Cobblers boss previews Exeter City clash

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd is considering his options ahead of Saturday’s npower League Two clash against Exeter City.

“With Emyr Huws coming in and Anthony Charles coming back from suspension I’ve got a variety of options,” he said.

“Tactically I’ve come up against Paul Tisdale a few times and his teams always play in a variety of ways and are able to cause problems and you can see by their away record that they are going to be a difficult proposition for us.

“Danny East will have a fitness test on Friday, he’s a tough kid and the swelling in his shoulder has come down a lot but it’s whether or not we risk him.

“Clive Platt will come back into the squad and Kemar Roofe will be okay.

“Emyr is a player we’ve watched for a couple of seasons now and I’m delighted to have him here.

“He’s a left sided central midfielder, a very good footballer and really we’re lucky to have him. We look forward to working with him and I’m sure he will prove to be an asset for us.

“The slight delay was for a number of reasons, there was no real secret to it we just wanted to make sure we got everything right for all parties.

“Manchester City don’t let many players out but they know that we will look after him and when he does eventually go back there he will go back a better player.

“I don’t want to build the lad up too much but he’s a good young player and he comes into the squad straight away.

“The team won on Tuesday and deservedly so and it’s sometimes difficult to change a winning team.

“I was delighted for Henoc Mukendi to get his goal, his starts have been intermittent at best but as a professional he’s been absolutely terrific.

“He’s worked his socks off, he knew that coming here he would have to fight for his place and he’s certainly doing that.”
