COBBLERS SEND JOHNSON FOR SCAN

12 November 2012

Club waiting to see results to establish extent of injury

The Cobblers will be without loanee Lee Nicholls and Jake Robinson for Tuesday night’s FA Cup first round replay at Bradford.

“Lee and Jake are both unavailable to play so there will be a couple of changes,” he said.

“We’ve got a couple of players carrying knocks but the fact we are in a buoyant mood after a really good win you tend to find injuries heal up a bit quicker.

“John Johnson has got to go for a scan on his knee and if it is a reoccurrence of his injury then that will be a big blow for us.

“We don’t want the same thing to happen to Ben Harding so there is a real reluctance on my part to throw him back in and risk the same thing that has happened to John.

“Lewis Hornby has come in and done really well, you never really know about a player until you put them into the arena but Lewis has got the shirt at the minute and its upto him to hold on to it.

“The only problem we’ve got is that we’ve got the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday so we’ve got to make sure that we don’t burn him out.

“The first team will always come first and has to take priority but I think it’s important as a club that we progress as far as we can in the FA Youth Cup as well.”
