Players kitted out for pre-season
Northampton Town Football Club are gearing up for the new season backed by Sweatshop in Milton Keynes. On Wednesday the players visited the Sweatshop shop in Milton Keynes. Sweatshop is the leading specialist running retailer in the UK, and has won the Runner's World award for best running retailer for the last 6 years in a row. They gave every player a personalised gait assessment and a shoe fitting so that each one can find the right shoe for them to help them with their pre-season training and fitness programme's.
"We are delighted to be working with Sweatshop," said the Cobblers Head of Sports Science Craig Smith.
"Pre-season is always very important, but this year is more than important than ever. The coming season will start later and end earlier, which means it will be a shorter, more intense season. We need to get the players fit, keep them fit and work to keep injuries to a minimum.
"An awful lot of injuries can be avoided and we are leaving nothing to chance to keep such injuries to a minimum. Too many players pick up injuries by putting pressure on their joints as they run or simply wearing the wrong equipment. We will be using the expertise and technology available with Sweatshop to make sure our players are running correctly and with the right equipment.
"Sweatshop have looked after us magnificently and we thank them for their support."
The same level of service is available free to all Sweatshop customers when choosing shoes to buy in store - Northampton Town supporters are welcome to go and experience the sort of service and treatment the players have received.
