HACKETT TO JOIN FROM AUGUST 1ST

3 July 2012

Chris agrees 2 year Sixfields contract

Former Millwall winger Chris Hackett will join Northampton Town on a 2 year contract with effect from August 1st 2012

Chris started his career with Oxford United where he made his debut in April 2000. On 24 January 2006 he joined Scottish Premier League club Hearts in a £20,000 deal.

In August 2006 he signed for Millwall and he was a key part of their promotion campaign via the Play-Offs in 2009/10. On 24 November 2011, Hackett joined then League One side Exeter City on loan. He was recalled by Millwall on 31 December 2011 following the completion of his loan spell. On 21 February 2012, he joined Wycombe Wanderers on a one-month loan before being released by the Lions at the end of 2011/12.

"Chris is a signing I am very pleased to make," said boss Aidy Boothroyd.

"He is someone I have tracked for a while and is another player who has played regularly at a higher level. He has a very good pedigree, and  he will bring experience, pace and guile to the squad.

"I am very much looking forward to working with him and like the other players who have come in so far this summer, I am sure he will prove a good signing for us."
