Cobblers boss happy with Cogenhoe fixture

Northampton Town manager Aidy Boothroyd was pleased with the performance of his team in Wednesday's win at Cogenhoe, but his opinion was not determined by the result in the 4-0 win.

"I'm no more happy nor miserable than I was after the Corby game, it’s about getting minutes into the legs and that’s what we have done for the past two games," he said.

"We had a sixty-thirty split on Saturday in terms of getting game time into the players and we had a sixty-thirty split again on Wednesday.

"The pitch was good for us and the ball was better as we used our own, but that’s making excuses. Even when you’re nowhere near your timing, a result like we got on Saturday can certainly help me as it gives me a stick I can beat the lads with and make them realise that they have got to be right at it.

"I thought on Wednesday that we were really good; we looked very fit, we looked strong and when the changes were made I thought there was a real appetite to go on and score, whilst we also saw an athleticism that we haven’t seen for a long time."
