The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd was delighted with both the 6-1 training match victory over Novigrad, and the overall impact of his squad's week training in Croatia.

"I am more than pleased, I am absolutely delighted with how the week has gone and our performance on Saturday night," he said.

"It sounds like this was an easy game for us, but it was not. We had to be very professional and we were. Novigrad were good opposition but we earned the goals we scored and I was delighted both with the fact we came through the week unscathed and with a number of individual performances in the game. I thought everyone did well and they can all be pleased with themselves.

"I have learned an awful lot this week. I have learned what we have, what we don't have and what we need to bring in. We have showed excellent spirit, togetherness, discipline and determination this week and that is great to see. We are one week into a six week programme and our progress is really encouraging.

"We left John Johnson and Alex Nicholls on the sidelines for the game. They are fine, they were just a little over-tired from the training this week and there was no point taking any risks.

"We are in good shape as we head home."
