AIDY PRAISES GROUNDSTAFF

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd praised the work of the club's staff following Saturday's 2-0 win against Aldershot.

"Groundsman Paul Knowles and his team did very well to get the game on," he said.

"It looked in doubt several times but everyone worked very hard behind the scenes to get the game on and then it was up to the players to do their bit.

"It was a good old fashioned British game of football and we had to do the ugly things well but in the end we were well worth the win.

"Jake Robinson is a good runner and that's why I brought him on for the second half and it allowed Chris Hackett to come into the game a little bit more as well.

"Chris's fitness levels are absolutely incredible and you saw him make a match-saving tackle today. That's what the game is all about and Chris was excellent today.

"Aldershot came and made a real game of it but I thought our two centre halves for the majority of the game were both excellent and Lee Nicholls handling was absolutely superb in very difficult conditions.

"I'm really pleased for Clive Platt to get his goal and I know that he is a Championship player playing at League 2 level. He's great in both boxes and I know how good a player he is."
