The Cobblers boss on a busy 12 months
Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd has been looking back on his first year in charge at Sixfields.
"I've really enjoyed my time here so far and I hope to be here for a lot longer," he said in an exclusive Cobblers Player interview.
"We have come a long way in a very short space of time and that is down to the hard work of the Chairman and all the staff at the football club.
"The players have certainly played their part as well, we were able to attract the right calibre of player in January and I think we added to that again well in the summer.
"The last year has certainly tested and added to me as a manager, firstly with the relegation battle last year and this season we've had to play so many different formations due to injuries. That has definitely helped me to improve as a manager and as a coach.
"The last twelve months have certainly reinforced a number of my beliefs, I think you have got to have the right characters in your team and then you need the right balance in terms of youth, experience, physicality and technical ability.
"We've talked to the players this week in little groups about where they think we need to improve and how they would play against us because that is something we need to think about now.
"They all want to do better but they know that we are not too far away from being a really good team.
"We've been on a good little run which has now come to an end but what we need to do now is go on another run.
"We are coming upto that critical Christmas period and when we go into January we want to be in a very solid position.
"There is a very good team spirit here and I think you can see that in the amount of times we have come back in games.
"There is a good resilience about this group, we don't always get it right but the attitude has been spot on.
"We've still got a long way to go but we are making good strides forward."
