Football League Youth Alliance action
Northampton Town's youth team kicked off their Football League Youth Alliance campaign on Saturday against the MK Dons at Moulton College.
The Cobblers were beaten 2-1 with Claudio Dias on target for Trevor Gould's side.
"It was a very close game," reflected Gould.
"It was a good game against a former academy side. We hit the woodwork twice and on the balance of play we were maybe a little bit unfortunate not to get anything from the game.
"It was our first game of the season and there were lots of good things for us to be encouraged about but equally there are also a lot of things we need to work on."
