Disability Player Development Centre
Northampton Town Football in the Community (FITC) and the Northamptonshire Football Association deliver the Northamptonshire Disability Player Development Centre for boys between the ages of 12 – 16.
What is the Centre looking for?
Players who have shown shoots of sporting potential within any of the following impairment areas: Cerebral Palsy, Partially Sighted, Blind, Deaf, Amputees or Learning Disabilities.
Through research we’ve carried out, the players that benefit most from these opportunities could be playing mainstream football and/or attend mainstream education.
Other benefits for players, include the following:
• Weekly, high level professional coaching from Northampton Town Football in the Community, in an environment suitable for a players development
• Opportunities for the most talented players to progress into regional and national impairment squads, which could lead to the Paralympics!!
How does a player get selected for the Centre?
To being with, players would need to attend a trial. The Centre is holding its first trials on Monday 17th and 24th September, from 6pm – 7:30pm at Thomas Becket School, Northampton, NN3 6HT.
This is a selection process, therefore should players attend a trial, we cannot guarantee selection for the squad. Following trials, the centre will communicate the outcome and explain the next steps.
So you know a player, they want to attend trial, but who do they contact?
