Cobblers boss happy with final run out

Aidy Boothroyd was delighted with the performance of his team in Tuesday's 3-1 victory over a West Ham United XI at Sixfields.

“All the games we’ve had have been good work outs but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t nice to get the win," he said.

“I think we are a better team already than we were last season and I’m really pleased with all the new recruits.

“It’s a long season but I think we have got enough depth in the forward areas to play a variety of systems.

“We have played three or four different systems now and we are going to need that during the season.

“We have now got to take stock of our pre-season and look at what we’ve done well and what we need to improve on.

“I was impressed with what I saw of Lee Nicholls, we’ve done a lot of work and covered a lot of miles looking at goalkeepers and I think we’ve got a good one in Lee.

“I thought he did very well on Tuesday and he’s fitted in very well considering he only joined us on Monday.”

Henoc Mukendi/bringing in a defender
“Henoc will be here until at least January.

“He’s only 17 years old but he’s very talented and he’s here to learn.

“He’s a lot different to Toni Silva in both his stature and the way that he plays but I was very pleased with how he did when he came on against West Ham.

“I’ve worked with a lot of good young players and Henoc has definitely one with a lot of potential.

“I’m pleased with the work we’ve done in terms of recruitment so far but we are still working hard on bringing in a defender.

“We need another player in that area and we are looking at bringing someone in.”
