AIDY UPBEAT AFTER CUP DISPLAY

30 August 2012

The views of the Cobblers boss

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd took plenty of positives from the Capital One Cup second round defeat against Wolves.

“Performance wise I thought we were good but we’re obviously disappointed with the defeat,” he said.

“The players gave it their all and overall I thought we gave a good account of ourselves.

“We played some terrific stuff but you need to score when you are on top and maybe we should have scored more goals when we had a really good spell in the first half.

“The manner of the goals we conceded was poor and that was disappointing.

“I thought we had the better chances and it was good for Clive Platt to get on the scoresheet.

“He’s got that in his locker and I thought we mixed our play up well and we were always a threat from set pieces.

“We are disappointed to be out the cup but we take it on the chin, say good luck to Wolves in the next round and concentrate on our league form.”
