Cobblers boss happy with large parts of Tuesday's display

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd was very pleased with some aspects of the performance in Tuesday night's game against Derby.

"It was a good game and I was very pleased with a lot of the things we did against Derby," he said.

"The Chelsea game was slightly different and we are not going to come up against teams like that on a regular basis but every game in pre-season helps us to get our shape right and get that understanding that we need out on the pitch.

"I was disappointed with the four goals we conceded on Tuesday night but they all came from things that can be sorted out and will be sorted out.

"Derby are a good side and they tested us but equally I thought we showed some good understanding and we made some good decisions in possession.

"Dean Snedker was excellent, he's earned the right to be given a chance and I was delighted for him.

"The players are looking very fit, I think the team are gelling and the main aim remains to make sure that we are at our peak performance levels for the game against Cardiff."
