AIDY LOOKING TO ADD BEFORE KICK OFF

2 August 2012

Cobblers boss ready for Spurs visit but still looking to recruit

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd is still looking to add to his squad with the big kick off fast approaching.

"We are still a couple of players away from where I think we should be," he said.

"I want to get the right goalkeeper in but getting the right character of player is absolutely paramount.

"We're not going to be a big squad and that is going to be our biggest strength and our biggest weakness.

"We are going to have better players than what we've had but smaller numbers so it's vital that we keep them fit.

"Anthony Charles and Kelvin Langmead have played every game of pre-season so far and that generally doesn't happen. That's where we are light and we need another player in there to share the load.

"Centre half is a position I've talked about for a long time but again we have got to make sure that we bring the right player in.

"We want to be less reliant on loan players this year, of course we are going to need them but I'd much rather get players signed permanently.

"We've got the right amount of depth in some positions but in other positions we are a little bit short and that is what we are working on.

"Spurs on Saturday will be a tough game but we will change things around. I want to see Bayo and Clive Platt up front together. We haven't tried that yet so we might give that a runat the weekend."
