Northampton Town's youth team welcomed AFC Wimbledon to Moulton College on Saturday in the EFL Youth Alliance.

Ethan Johnston scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory for the Cobblers with coach Jon Brady left praising the character of his side.

"The boys showed immense character," he said.

"AFC Wimbledon are a really good side and this was a tough challenge for us.

"We had a fair few chances to score more goals but saying that there were times when Lewi Patching kept us in the game and I'd probably have to say he was our man of the match.

"The boys showed great resilience when they needed to and it's always nice to keep a clean sheet to go with a victory."
