Northampton Town's youth team travelled to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday for their latest EFL Youth Alliance Merit Division fixture.

A very young Cobblers side, including six first year scholars and four sixteen year olds were beaten 4-0.

"We are going brave and blooding some of our young players early," said under 18s coach Jon Brady.

"We've got a lot of our players out on loan or work experience and we have taken the decision to get some of the players who will be in the team next year in now to give them some experience.

"It gives us a good chance to have a look at them and find out about their character.

"It's all part of their development and we can learn a lot from these games."
