Following an injury lay-off Lee Burge was back in goal for the visit of Wigan Athletic with top goalscorer Sam Hoskins also passed fit to start. Louis Appere was back on the bench but seven players were unavailable for selection due to injury, Jack Sowerby, Sam Sherring, Danny Hylton, Akin Odimayo, Ali Koiki, Ben Fox and Tyler Magloire.

Jordan Jones fired over an early chance for Wigan but with a quarter of an hour played it was the Cobblers who took the lead from the penalty spot, the returning Sam Hoskins converting the spot-kick after Kieron Bowie was brought down in the area by Latics goalkeeper Sam Tickle.

A headed goal-line clearance from Aaron McGowan on the half-hour mark denied Wigan an equaliser and the Cobblers then went close to a second goal when Shaun McWilliams volleyed just wide from 20-yards.

Burge, making his 50th appearance for the club, made a good save to keep out a Liam Morrison header in first half stoppage time to ensure the Cobblers led at the break.

Thelo Aasgaard tested Burge in the opening exchanges of the second half while Tyreece Simpson fired over for the Cobblers.

Wigan got themselves back on level terms on 64 minutes, Josh Magennis scoring from close range after being played in by substitute Matt Smith.

Manny Monthe replaced Hoskins in the Cobblers first change as Jon Brady switched to a back three with Louis Appere then introduced at the expense of Tyreece Simpson.

The game was in the balance going into the final ten minutes with McGowan making another vital intervention to deny Jones. Mitch Pinnock then shot just wide with the 90 minutes up and in the end the points were shared.

12 January 2024

There is plenty happening at Sixfields on Saturday!

Please do arrive early as we are expected to be busy. Please also look to enter the turnstiles and to take your seats as soon as possible to avoid any delays particularly in the busy fifteen minutes prior to kick off. While we will do all we can to ensure smooth and efficient entry in to the game, ticket and security checks must take place and arriving late may mean you miss kick off.

The turnstiles will open at 1.30pm and entry in to the stadium is welcomed at any point from that time onwards.

The north gravel car park will be open from 10am while the car park at Duston Mill, which is not operated by the club but is available for supporters to park in, (sat nav NN5 5FP) will also be open. Please do not park in the car parks of other business premises in or around Sixfields. There may well be parking restrictions in place.
