After a two week break from the league due to cup involvement, the Cobblers returned to league action with a trip to fellow promotion contenders Exeter City. Charlie Goode made his 100th league appearance while former Cobblers loanee winger Lee Martin was on the bench for the home side.

In a fairly even opening ten minutes, Sam Hoskins saw a shot blocked while on the counter-attack Exeter’s Ryan Bowman curled an effort just wide. It was a tight game with clear cut chances at a premium for both sides but Andy Williams went close to breaking the deadlock midway through the first half, heading over from Vadaine Oliver’s cross.

Some quick thinking from Williams led to a double chance for Hoskins but after seeing his initial shot blocked by a recovering Grecians defender he then couldn’t find the target from a difficult angle on the follow-up.

The Cobblers made the breakthrough on 33 minutes, skipper Charlie Goode with a fine finish into the bottom corner following some terrific break up play by Alan McCormack and a cross in from Nicky Adams.

Exeter weren’t behind for long though, Randell Williams cutting inside after a quickly taken free-kick before drilling home a low shot from 20-yards.

The home side started the second half brightly, Jack Sparkes curling a 25-yard free-kick against the post, a well-placed Nicky Law heading wide and some alert goalkeeping from David Cornell and an important block from Goode also needed to maintain parity. Keith Curle reacted by making a double change with Harry Smith and Ryan Watson on for Williams and Paul Anderson.

Aaron Martin headed Exeter in front on 64 minutes from a quickly taken corner that was originally given as a goal kick and things got worse three minutes later when Alex Fisher made it 3-1 with a close range finish after another ball into the box. To further compound matters, Curle was forced into making his final change after McCormack picked up a knock, Egli Kaja on with just over a quarter of an hour to play.

A fine individual goal from Sam Hoskins had the Cobblers back in the game with 79 minutes on the clock, Hoskins taking the ball round the Exeter defence before sliding a shot into the bottom corner.

Hoskins' goal set up a tense finale at St James Park and the Cobblers pressed hard for an equaliser but despite Vadaine Oliver almost scoring with a spectacular overhead kick, Exeter held on for all three points.

300 tickets have been sent in advance, with 1,000 available in total.

The new and improved away terrace is now fully covered, with modern concession and toilet facilities offering a more comfortable supporter experience than previous years.

BABES IN ARMS
Exeter's babes in arms policy now relates to children aged 4 and under who do not require a seat. As such, any child aged 0 to 4 years old will not require a ticket to enter a match at St James Park.

WHEELCHAIR DISABLED FANS
We have 3 pairs of tickets for away wheelchair fans in the away disabled bay of the Main Stand (by the away seats). Prices here are a maximum of the concession price for this stand (£20 in advance) with the assistant free. Under 18s therefore pay £11 in advance. The new away terrace also has space for 5 pairs of wheelchairs but as they are positioned by the corner flag the view isn’t great, and we recommend supporters in wheelchairs purchase in the Main Stand bay first. Prices in that section are £14/£6.

Fans should ring 01392 411243 (option 2) to book these or email reception@ecfc.co.uk.

AMBULANT DISABLED
These fans are charged the appropriate age related price and an assistant receives a free ticket.

ON MATCHDAY
Any sales and collections should be made from the Away Booth before approaching the turnstiles. This is situated just up from the turnstiles in St James Road. It is attached to the main St James Centre building and set just back from the road behind the red and white railings.

ENTRY TO GROUND
Entry for fans is through the dedicated away turnstiles just down St James Road from the Away Ticket Booth

DISABILITY ISSUES
If there are any questions in general regarding disabled facilities or ticketing, Disability Liaison Officer, Nick Saunders, is contactable at disability@exetercityfc.co.uk or via reception on 01392 411243.

The new Stagecoach Adam Stansfield Stand (opposite the Main Stand) also features a ‘Changing Places’ accessible room with hoist, shower and other accessibility features and is available to all. Should any wheelchair bound or disabled visiting supporters wish to use this, please ask them to approach a steward for access.

PARKING
There is no spectator parking at the ground but Exeter have one space for visiting disabled fans. Please direct any requests to main club reception on 01392 411243 or to reception@ecfc.co.uk
