David Buchanan, Shay Facey and Andy Williams came in to the side for the trip to promotion chasers Bury on Easter Monday with George Cox, Dean Bowditch and Junior Morias dropping to the bench. Nicky Adams was a familiar face in the Bury side.

Facey headed just over the bar in an early chance for the Cobblers, David Buchanan saw a shot parried with Daniel Powell unable to find the target on the follow-up and Williams was also denied by Joe Murphy in a sharp start from Keith Curle’s side. Bury were also looking dangerous and it needed an important intervention from Charlie Goode to prevent Danny Mayor getting a shot away.

After a fast start from both sides the game then quietened down somewhat before Andy Williams' diving header broke the deadlock on 27 minutes, Sam Foley’s cross providing the assist for Williams' 10th goal of the campaign.

Bury were back on level terms before the break, Adams cross to the back post was steered home by Chris Stokes. The goal lifted the home side again but it remained 1-1 going in at half-time.

Nicky Maynard went over in the area at the start of the second half but referee Michael Salisbury was unmoved by home shouts for a penalty. David Cornell saved comfortably from Dominic Telford while the dangerous Mayor curled a shot narrowly wide from 30-yards.

Danny Mayor wasn’t to be denied though and he put the home side in front with a curled strike in to the bottom corner.

Aaron Pierre headed wide from a David Buchanan cross and Andy Williams spurned a good chance after being played in by Dean Bowditch as the Cobblers pressed for an equaliser. Sam Hoskins had a shot blocked out for a corner in stoppage time but with the Cobblers pushing for an equaliser Nicky Maynard made it 3-1 to Bury with a close range finish.
