COBBLERS SUFFER NARROW LOSS AT PLAINMOOR

Northampton Town's youth team suffered a 3-0 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday in the Football League Youth Alliance.

"It's another disappointing result on the back of the defeat against Brentford last week," reflected under 18s coach Sean Parrish.

"We conceded three sloppy goals and in truth the scoreline could have been a lot worse.

"We were down to the bare bones in terms of numbers but that is no excuse and at times we had to defend for our lives.

"We need to learn from our mistakes and learn quickly because our defending is just unacceptable at the moment and some of the goals we are giving away are just criminal.

"This is a big learning curve for the young players and it's time now for some of the players to stand up and be counted.

"We are going to need to put some extra work in on the training ground and if we don't correct the silly mistakes that we are making at the moment then it is going to be a long and difficult season."
