COBBLERS SUFFER NARROW LOSS AT PLAINMOOR

Northampton Town's youth team welcomed Leyton Orient to Moulton College in the Football League Youth Alliance on Saturday.

The Cobblers suffered a 2-1 defeat, ending their long unbeaten run which stretched back to mid-November.

"Overall I'm just disappointed that our good run has come to an end," reflected youth team coach Sean Parrish.

"Credit to Leyton Orient, they worked really hard and we just didn't really get going in the first half.

"Our goal was an own goal and although we upped the tempo a bit in the second half we couldn't quite get the equaliser.

"I'm disappointed our good spell has come to an end but we now need to react to this defeat in a positive way.

"We picked up a couple of knocks in the game but that will give an opportunity to some of the players who haven't been in the team recently to come in and try and stake a claim."
