Northampton Town's youth team welcomed Luton Town to Moulton College on Saturday as they resumed their Football League Youth Alliance campaign after the break for bad weather.

The Cobblers won the game 3-0 thanks to goals from Michael Jacobs, Alex Konstantinou and Mark Withers.

"It was an excellent performance and I was thrilled with the win," reflected youth team coach Sean Parrish.

"Apart from maybe the game against Chesterfield in the cup it was probably our best performance of the season and the only slightly disappointing thing was that we didn't win by more goals.

"In saying that I was delighted with the three goals we did score and to get a clean sheet as well was very pleasing.

"It's been a long while since we've had a league game but the players have shown a good attitude in training and the County Cup game we had in the week certainly helped us to prepare for this game.

"The lads were chomping at the bit to play and we started really brightly.

"Michael Jacobs had a bit of an illness towards the end of the week but he did really well to get through the 90 minutes and I thought at times that Alex Konstantinou was unplayable."
